Biography:

Steve Hutchcraft has been married to his wife, Dana, for 40 years. Together, they have raised three children and are proud grandparents to seven grandchildren.

Steve’s journey into competitive shooting began in May 2023, following a life-altering motorcycle accident in 2022 that resulted in the amputation of his left leg. As a U.S. Veteran, he was encouraged by his recreational therapist to participate in the 2023 National Veterans Wheelchair Games in Portland, Oregon. Unsure of which events to enter, he chose 10m Air Rifle and Pistol, and won gold in both.

Upon returning home to Colorado Springs, Steve committed to pursuing competitive shooting more seriously. He joined the National Training Center Shooting Club, focusing on 10m Air Rifle. In November 2024, he expanded his training to include 50m Smallbore.

In the summer of 2025, Steve competed in his first USA Shooting National Championship and earned a bronze medal in 50m Smallbore. That July, he traveled with the U.S. National Paralympic Team to his first international competition in Arequipa, Peru, where he reached the finals in both 10m Air Rifle and 50m Smallbore, finishing sixth in both events.
